Hydrographics Finishing
From Molded Part to
Market-Ready Finish
A great molded part doesn't stop at function — it has to look right too. PSI's hydrographics capability is a natural extension of the molding process: integrated in-house, managed under one roof, and tuned specifically for the substrates we produce

Core Capabilties

Decoration integrated with the molding process.

Because hydrographics is integrated into PSI's in-house finishing workflow, customers get more than decoration — they get reliability. Color and pattern consistency, scalable production, and durable clear-coat protection are all managed under one roof. Fewer vendors, faster timelines, and a finished part that looks intentional, not added on.

Single-Source Accountability
One partner from molding to ship
PSI is responsible for the molded substrate and the finished decoration — full stop. Quality issues are owned, investigated, and resolved by the same team that built the part.
No handoffs between molders and finishers
Parts move directly from the press to the hydrographics cell without leaving the building — eliminating the inter-vendor transit, scheduling dependencies, and handling damage that come with outsourced decoration.
Faster issue resolution
When a question arises — whether it's a substrate surface condition or a finish consistency issue — the people who can answer it are in the same building. Resolution happens in hours, not days across vendor emails.
Consistent Quality & Repeatability
Controlled color and pattern alignment
Film activation chemistry, dip angle, substrate temperature, and topcoat application are all process parameters — documented, controlled, and reproduced consistently from the first production run through the last.
Tuned for PSI-molded substrates
Because PSI molds the parts it decorates, the finishing process is developed with full knowledge of the substrate's surface condition, resin type, and texture — enabling better adhesion and more consistent results than a standalone finisher would achieve.
Durable clear-coat protection
Every hydrographic finish is topcoated with a durable clear coat — protecting the pattern against abrasion, UV exposure, and chemical contact for the full service life of the part.
Shorter Lead Times & Lower Risk
No third-party scheduling delays
PSI's hydrographics cell operates on the same schedule as the molding program — parts flow from the press to finishing without waiting for a separate supplier's production slot.
Faster design iterations and sampling
For programs still finalizing pattern or color selection, in-house decoration enables faster sample turnaround — allowing design decisions to be made with real finished parts in hand, not waiting on an outside vendor's sample queue.
Less handling, less cosmetic damage
Every inter-vendor transfer is a handling event — and handling events create cosmetic damage. Keeping molding and decoration under one roof reduces the number of times a part is touched before it's packaged for shipment.
Pattern Options
Wood grain, carbon fiber, camo, and beyond.
Hydrographics can apply virtually any pattern to a three-dimensional surface — including compound curves and recessed geometry that flat printing methods can't reach. PSI offers an extensive pattern library and can develop custom films to match your specific design requirements.

The PSI Difference

Partnership From Day One

From the first design conversation to final assembly, our team works alongside your team at every stage. Engineering, molding, decoration, and assembly all happen under one roof, with a single team accountable for quality, timing, and consistency from start to finish.

No handoffs to outside vendors. No gaps in communication. Just experienced people who know your part, understand your standards, and are invested in getting it right.

Less guesswork.

No surprises.

Better Outcomes.

PSI asks questions before  a tool is cut — what does this part need to do, where does it live, what can’t it fail at? Our engineers work alongside yours from day one, so the people building your parts are in lock step with the people who designed them. Good engineering shouldn’t feel complicated. It should just feel like it works.

Mold Transfer capabilities

Already have tooling? Transferring to PSI is easier than you think.

PSI has a proven process for qualifying and transitioning molds from other suppliers — minimizing disruption to your program while improving the quality, service, and cost structure of your molded parts. Whether you’re reshoring, consolidating suppliers, or simply looking for a better partner, we make the move straightforward.
