Additional Finishing Capabilities
All the finishing touches.
All handled in-house.
Logos, markings, foil finishes, permanent etchings — PSI handles them all in-house. Pad printing, silk screening, hot stamping, and laser etching are built directly into the production workflow, so there's less handling, fewer vendors, and tighter cosmetic consistency from part to part.

Silk Screening

Silk screening — also known as screen printing — pushes ink through a fine mesh stencil directly onto a surface, producing bold, vibrant graphics with excellent color consistency and opacity. It’s one of the most established decoration methods in plastics manufacturing, known for delivering sharp, durable results at high volumes.

Best Uses:

It’s the right choice when large graphics, full-coverage color, or high-volume runs are the requirement. The process excels on flat or slightly contoured surfaces and produces a thick, durable ink deposit that holds up well to handling, UV exposure, and wear over time. At PSI, silk screening is integrated directly with molding and assembly — keeping quality consistent and handling to a minimum.

Best Suited For:

Large format graphics · Bold color and full-coverage decoration · Flat or low-contour surfaces ·

Pad Printing

Pad printing transfers a 2D image onto a 3D surface using a flexible silicone pad — making it one of the most versatile decoration methods for molded plastic parts. Ink is picked up from an etched plate and applied to the part, allowing graphics to conform precisely to curved, recessed, and irregular surfaces that other printing methods simply can’t reach.

Best Uses:

It’s the right choice when accuracy and repeatability matter — for logos, part markings, regulatory symbols, or multi-color graphics on complex geometries.

Best Suited For:

Pad printing works across a broad range of plastic materials and integrates directly into PSI’s production workflow, so decoration happens as part of the process, not as an afterthought.

Hot Stamping

Hot stamping uses heat and pressure to transfer a thin foil — metallic, pigmented, or textured — directly onto a plastic surface, producing a finish that paint and ink simply can’t replicate. A heated die presses the foil carrier against the part, bonding the coating permanently in a single step with no inks, solvents, or drying time required.

Best Uses:

It’s the right choice when the application calls for a premium look — metallic finishes, holographic effects, high-gloss color, or embossed texture that elevates a part’s appearance and perceived value. Hot stamping is fast, clean, and highly repeatable, making it equally effective for short decorative runs and high-volume production.

Best Suited For:

Metallic and foil finishes · Logo and brand decoration · Cosmetic and consumer-facing parts · Curved and contoured surfaces · Premium packaging and trim components

Laser Etching

Laser etching uses a focused beam of light to permanently mark a plastic surface by removing or altering material at a microscopic level — no inks, no foils, no contact with the part. The result is a precise, clean mark that is fully integrated into the surface itself and cannot wear off, fade, or peel.

Best Uses:

It’s the right choice when permanence and precision are non-negotiable — for serial numbers, barcodes, QR codes, regulatory markings, or fine detail graphics that need to remain legible throughout the life of the part. Laser etching is fast, repeatable, and easily programmable, making it ideal for variable data, traceability requirements, and applications where traditional printing methods fall short.

Best Suited For:

Regulatory and compliance symbols · Fine detail graphics · Applications requiring permanent, wear-resistant marks

Finding the right finish
Not sure which finishing process fits your part?
The right method depends on your part geometry, surface requirements, and end use. Each of PSI's six finishing processes has a distinct sweet spot — from full 360° hydrographic coverage on complex 3D geometry to permanent laser-etched compliance marks. Compare them side by side or talk to our team and we'll point you in the right direction.
